About Me
I’m Jerome Stevens—an award-winning author, life coach, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and Master Barber with 20 years of experience. At the heart of everything I do is one mission: helping people develop the mindset, identity, and mental tools they need to make better decisions, recognize their potential, and create a life they’re proud to live.
My understanding of this work was shaped long before I became a coach or speaker. Through barbering, I had the opportunity to work with youth at Cheltenham Youth Facility, a juvenile detention center, as well as individuals at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. While providing barbering services, I realized that the chair could become much more than a place to get a haircut. It became a space for honest conversations about choices, consequences, identity, goals, and what life could look like beyond their current circumstances.
Those experiences helped me recognize a much larger problem: there is a gap in the mental tools many of us are given when we are young, and that gap can follow us into adulthood and influence the decisions we make for years. We often tell young people to make better choices without first giving them the tools to understand themselves, regulate their emotions, build confidence, communicate effectively, and think through the consequences of their decisions.
That realization became an important part of my work today. As a youth leadership and mental wellness coach, I focus on helping young people strengthen their identity, self-awareness, confidence, emotional resilience, communication, decision-making, and personal leadership. My goal isn’t simply to motivate young people for a moment; it is to give them practical mental tools they can carry into adulthood.
My work also extends into the business world. As an entrepreneur, I have gained experience across multiple industries, including real estate, barbering, coaching, and business development. Across those experiences, I noticed something consistent among high earners, entrepreneurs, and high achievers: their success starts with what they believe about themselves.
Before you can successfully grow a business, lead a team, pursue a bigger vision, or step into a new level of success, you have to believe that you are capable of becoming the person that vision requires. Strategy matters. Funding matters. Opportunity matters. But self-belief comes first.
Without a strong sense of identity, it’s difficult to grow into your full potential—and when the entrepreneur stops growing, the business eventually feels the limitations too. That’s why my work with entrepreneurs focuses on developing the person behind the business: strengthening identity, expanding the vision, challenging limiting beliefs, and helping them identify their next vertical for growth.
I’m also the author of Stop Playing Nice, an award-winning self-help book recognized by the International Impact Book Awards. The book challenges people to stop living for approval, establish stronger boundaries, raise their standards, and begin living from a place of identity, purpose, and conviction.

I help students build the mental tools they need to better understand who they are, navigate challenges, and become confident leaders in their schools, homes, and communities. As a Youth Leadership & Mental Wellness Coach, I create engaging experiences centered around Identity & Self-Awareness, Confidence & Self-Leadership, Communication & Social Skills, Emotional Regulation & Resilience, Decision-Making & Responsibility, and Leadership in Action. My goal is to help young people strengthen their mindset, find their voice, make healthier decisions, and develop the confidence to lead themselves before they lead others.

I believe sustainable business growth starts with growing the person behind the business. I work with entrepreneurs and business leaders to strengthen the mindset, clarity, and vision needed to move beyond where they are today. Through three core areas—Identity, The Dream, and Finding Your New Vertical—I help entrepreneurs reconnect with who they are, clarify what they truly want to build, and identify new opportunities for growth and expansion. I also help businesses explore funding and financing solutions, connecting the vision with the capital needed to take the next step. Youth Leadership & Mental Wellness Program
Building the mental tools today that students will carry into adulthood.
The Youth Leadership & Mental Wellness Program is designed to help students better understand who they are, how they respond to challenges, and how the decisions they make today can shape their future. Through engaging conversations, practical exercises, and real-life application, students develop skills in identity and self-awareness, confidence and self-leadership, communication and social skills, emotional regulation and resilience, decision-making and personal responsibility, and leadership in action. Rather than simply telling students to “make better choices,” the program focuses on giving them the mental and emotional tools to understand how to make those choices.
Students leave the program with stronger emotional regulation, greater confidence and self-identity, improved communication and peer interaction, and practical leadership tools they can apply in school, at home, and in their communities. For schools, the goal is to support improved student engagement, emotional stability, healthier peer interactions, and a stronger culture of personal responsibility and leadership.
The program is also customizable. Themes, sessions, and areas of focus can be added, adjusted, or expanded based on the specific needs of the students, faculty, school, or district, allowing each program to address the challenges and outcomes that matter most to that community.
The goal isn’t just to develop better students—it’s to help develop confident, self-aware young people who are better prepared for life.

Building Yourself & Your Business
Your business can only grow as far as you’re willing to grow.
Building Yourself & Your Business is a personal and business development program designed for entrepreneurs who know they’re capable of more but may be struggling with the mindset, clarity, confidence, or resources needed to reach their next level.
We start with the person behind the business. Together, we identify the limiting beliefs that may be influencing how you lead, make decisions, take risks, set your prices, pursue opportunities, and see your own potential. We strengthen your mindset and identity as an entrepreneur, because sustainable business growth starts with believing you are capable of becoming the person your next level requires.
From there, we go back to the dream. What was your original vision when you started the business? Why did you begin? Does the business you have today still reflect that vision—or have survival, responsibilities, setbacks, and everyday operations caused you to lose sight of it?
Then we look forward and identify your New Vertical—the next opportunity for growth. That could mean expanding your services, creating a new revenue stream, entering a new market, scaling an existing offer, or developing another strategic direction that aligns with where you want the business to go.
And because vision without resources can stall growth, I can also help entrepreneurs explore business financing options that may provide the capital needed to execute their next move, subject to lender eligibility and approval.

My son has also watched Jerome interact with his own sons over the years. Jerome's patient demeanor and care set a wonderful example of what a father should be. Whether he’s speaking into faith, offering guidance, or stepping up for families in hard times, Jerome leads with transparency, kindness, and strength. He isn't just a barber—he’s a cornerstone of our community.

My eight year old son, Dominic, has been getting his haircut by Jerome since the age of three. Since the first time he sat in his chair, there was comfort that was very apparent. Prior to this, Dominic was not a fan of going to the barber. However, Jerome was patient, spoke warmly and quickly Dominic felt comfortable. Over the years, my son has shared many stories with me about conversations he’s had with Jerome while in the chair. School, sports, fashion and “boy stuff” whatever that means, LOL. I’ve had the privilege of having Jerome as my barber for the past 10 years but calling him just my “barber” doesn’t really do our relationship justice.
Over the years he’s been there through some of the biggest stages and milestones of my life — from getting married, buying my first home, and becoming a father for the first time. He’s seen me grow, change, and evolve through different seasons of my life and he’s always been someone I could talk to.
One of the things I appreciate most about him is that he’s been there for me not only as my barber, but as a genuine friend. He’s always been willing to listen, give advice, and encourage me when I needed it.
He also played a big role in helping me take the first steps toward starting my own clothing business. He helped me setup my LLC and shared all the knowledge he learned from his experiences and passed it all on to me. He doesn’t just cut hair — he builds relationships, listens to people, understands where they’re coming from, and genuinely wants to see people grow.
